Clinical interests
Clinical interests include assessment and the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder, depression and anxiety disorders, and conjoint treatment focusing on couples and attachment difficulties in adults. My interest in love-life psychology is related to the work I do with couples. Research interests include the study of gender and dispositional optimism as moderators of the relationship between negative life events and suicide behavior.
Practice information
I work privately in a limited part-time capacity, with adults in individual and couples psychotherapy.
Personal relationship status
I have been happily married for 26 years. We have a 19 year old son and a 23 year old daughter. Our daughter will be getting married this July and our son is off to New York City for an internship this summer. I was married and divorced prior to the current marriage. We learn something valuable from each relationship we have that we can take into future relationships. My primary occupation is as an educator at the post-secondary level where working with students has given me valuable insights into the nature of the struggles and stressors that young people today are facing as they grow into competent adults and responsible partners.
