Clinical interests
I am deeply interested in the journey of loss and bereavement and how people can go on living after tragedy. The various types of losses human beings can experience, how individuals grieve based on their earlier childhood attachments, how the genders grieve differently, and complicated bereavement are all areas of importance to me. Additionally, I am interested in the struggles of living with a chronic illness, being the parent or spouse of an individual impacted by a chronic illness, and the influence this has on relationship satisfaction.

Love-Life interests and expertise
I have always been interested in our earlier attachment relationships, that is, the type of attachment we have to our parents as children, and how we tend to recapitulate these patterns in our adult lives. When we are involved in romantic relationships, it is these same patterns that are reenacted. They can either be healthy and adaptive, or cause us dissatisfaction and heartbreak. I do a great deal of clinical work on the impact of chronic illness and loss on the marital functioning of a couple. I am also a PREP (Prevention and Relationship Enhancement Program) coach, where I teach couples skill-based techniques to improve communication.

Practice information
I maintain private practices in both Manhasset, New York (Long Island) and Nyack, New York (Rockland County). I see children, adolescents, and adults. Although I do a great deal of work with chronic illness, trauma, bereavement and loss, I spend an equal amount of time on issues related to depression, self-esteem, and identity. Additionally, I have a sub-specialty working with adolescent girls and young women.
